About The Author
Matej Rumanovský (1994) graduated in journalism at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava, but writing and working with text have accompanied him throughout his life.
He has worked as an editor and as an editor-in-chief in several media, written advertising texts, and has written many other things as well. However, his artistic work is his home, where he comes from and to which he keeps returning.
So far he has written two novels, one book on creative habits, and is writing more. In his novels, he explores being, the passage of time, and the fleeting nature of the present moment. In addition to longer prose pieces, he regularly writes short stories and blogs. He publishes in Slovak, English and German.

Why I Write?
I started writing books when I was about eight. I illustrated my first book myself, it was about ten pages long and was published in only one original. It was called Bogey and His Adventures and was inspired by my favorite cartoon Detective Bogey – the thieves went to rob a bank and ended up in jail. A plot worthy of a novel.
Later on in school, I left artwork for a while (but not completely) and started to focus more on creating a magazine. Initially, I made it myself – mostly comics or other “cultural” supplements were part of it – then it disappeared because I got together with other classmates and we started a new magazine.
In middle and high school, there were already various school magazines or portals to which I naturally contributed and later became a paid editor. This work was later replaced by work in agencies, where, however, work with text lost its charm for good, so I gradually returned to where I started. I wrote and published a few short stories, but I also wrote a few other things. It absorbed me so much that I didn’t work anywhere for a while, went to India for three months, and when I came back I already worked on my first novel. And here I am now.
